(and parents won’t hate – win/win)
Birthday parties over the years have turned into elaborate themed celebrations with treat tables, balloon arches, and over-the-top decor. Growing up, we had some friends over for cake and ice cream, and we ran around and played tag. That alone sparked joy and created core memories.
Whether you choose to go all out or keep it simple the question remains the same – are party favors necessary?
The answer is ultimately up to you! If you decide to or not, it does not define your parenting or party planning etiquette.
Children may have become accustomed to goodie bags just as parents have come to dread them! Most times, we end up trashing all the little pieces or the overload of candy in them.
If you feel guilty about not handing party favors out – don’t!
We’ve been to parties where party bags were not given out and the kids were just fine! They enjoyed the time with their friends and had fun.
If you genuinely want to give them out then do so!
Here are 6 ideas of favors kids will actually use!
3. Flower Seeds
Kids will have fun and feel super responsible for planting their own flowers and watching them grow! If you’re not a plant person like me set a reminder to water it. There is a wide variety on amazon.
The book can be related to your party theme and addressed to each child! Dollar tree has books as well as the target bullseye section if you’re looking for activity pads!
5. DIY Craft
The craft can also be theme related! Michaels and dollar tree usually have craft sets with paint or all supplies included.
If you’re still undecided ask yourself these 4 questions:
1. Will I be going outside of my budget?
2. Would my child use this?
3. How long will my child use this?
4. Is this an item I would want to throw away?
The great thing about planning the party is you can hand out one of the above, a combination, or none! Planning a party can become stressful as it is, so it’s important to do what’s best for your budget and your sanity!
What other favors would you add to this list?
